I am very excited to announce our newest partner, National Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry, will be updating his very own blog at www.landresource.com, offering commentary on the past, present and future of baseball.
Born in Williamston, North Carolina, Gaylord began his Major League career with the San Francisco Giants in 1962 and accumulated Hall of Fame statistics for eight major league teams.
Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, Gaylord achieved two of pitching's most magical milestones with 314 wins and 3,534 strikeouts. Distracting and frustrating hitters through an array of rituals on the mound, he was a 20-game winner five times and posted a 3.10 lifetime ERA. An outstanding competitor, he won Cy Young awards in 1972 with Cleveland and with San Diego in 1978, becoming the first pitcher to win the award in both leagues. He was also a member of the All-Star team five times, in 1966, 1970, 1972, 1974 and 1979.
In recent Gaylord news, he has already kicked off our Braves monthly sweepstakes, where Braves fans have six opportunities to win a weekend stay at a Dream Home in either our Grey Rock or Cumberland Harbour communities. Until September, fans can register to win the stay and Gaylord will recognize the winners at a pre-game ceremony at the Braves Stadium home plate. He has also joined us at several of our communities’ Priority Selection Events around the Southeast. We look forward to sharing an exclusive look at America’s favorite pastime through this one-of-a-kind relationship with baseball’s one-of-a-kind Hall of Fame pitcher.
With his 21-year career in baseball, unique views and wit, Gaylord’s blog will prove to be an exciting look into the original insight and thoughts from a Hall of Fame baseball player about the game he loves.
Thank you.
Mike Flaskey
